Pomodoro Timer
The Pomodoro technique: write in focused sprints, rest in between. Scriptorium has a timer built right into the workspace so you don’t need another app.
Using the timer
Section titled “Using the timer”The timer lives in the title bar, just right of the + new-tab button — click the clock icon to open it.
- Press play to start a focus sprint.
- Write until the chime.
- The break starts on its own. When it ends, the next sprint starts on its own too.
The sequence runs itself: focus, short break, focus, and so on, with a long break at each cycle boundary, until every session is done. Pause stops the clock where it stands and reset puts the whole run back to the start.
While a session is live, the title-bar icon shows the remaining time, tinted by the phase you’re in — red for focus, green for a short break, blue for a long one. Once the popover is closed the timer keeps counting, so you can start a sprint and get out of your own way.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Open the timer and the settings sit below the clock:
- Focus — length of a focus sprint, in minutes and seconds (classic is 25 minutes)
- Short break — the rest between sprints
- Intervals — how many focus sprints make up one cycle
- Cycle (long break) — how many cycles to run before the timer stops. Leave it empty to skip long breaks entirely.
- Long break — the longer rest taken at each cycle boundary (only shown when cycles are enabled)
- Notification sound — the chime played when a phase ends, with a button to preview it
- Volume — how loud that chime is
