Notes

Notes are free-form rich-text documents — the place for research, planning, brainstorming, and anything that isn’t the manuscript itself.

Both use the same editor, but they serve different purposes:

  1. In the sidebar, click (or right-click a folder) and choose Notes.
  2. Name it and start writing — everything from the manuscript editor works here too: formatting, blocks, slash commands, images.
  • Page links — type @ to link to any character, location, manuscript, or other item in your project. See Page Links.
  • Page embeds — insert a full-width card linking to another page via the / menu.
  • Drag-and-drop linking — drag any item from the sidebar into a note to drop in a link card.
  • Cover image — give a note a cover for easy recognition.
  • Notes auto-save as you type — no Save button.
  • Export any note to PDF or Markdown from its action menu in the sidebar.
