Split Screen

Split screen lets you open two items side by side — keep a character sheet or research note visible while you write the scene it belongs to. Split screen works with every pages in a project.

Using split screen

1. Open the first item as usual.
2. Open a second item in the split pane (via its sidebar action menu or the split-screen control in the toolbar).
3. Each pane scrolls and edits independently.

Press Mod+Shift+S to split or unsplit the current tab at any time (Mod is ⌘ Cmd on macOS, Ctrl on Windows/Linux). Each tab keeps its own split, so one tab can be split while the next is a single pane.

Typical uses

• Reference while writing — character sheet on one side, scene on the other.
• Rewriting — old chapter left, new draft right.
• Continuity checks — two scenes side by side.

Word counts stay in sync between panes, so edits in either pane are reflected immediately in your totals and writing goals.
