Mindmaps

A mindmap is a freeform visual canvas where you lay out the pieces of your story and draw the connections between them — see your whole web of characters, places, and plot threads at a glance.

Creating a mindmap

Create a Mindmap from the sidebar and start adding nodes.

Node types

• Entity nodes — show the entity’s image, type badge, and icon
• Manuscript nodes — show the manuscript’s description
• Notes nodes — show a content preview (expandable)
• File nodes — show a thumbnail
• Sticky notes — free-text nodes you edit right on the canvas, for ideas that don’t have a page yet

Building the canvas

• Double-click empty canvas to create a new node.
• Import existing items from your project onto the canvas.
• Drag nodes to position them; resize them as needed.
• Use auto-layout to tidy up the arrangement.
• Use the filter panel to show or hide nodes by entity type.

Connecting nodes

Drag from one node to another to connect them. This creates a real relationship — not just a drawing:

• The edge is displayed with the relationship type’s color and label.
• The connection also appears in both items’ Relationships sections everywhere else in the app.
• Relationships created elsewhere show up on the mindmap automatically.

Working with nodes

Hover a node for its floating toolbar: edit, delete, or open in sidebar. Every canvas operation supports undo/redo.

Positions and sizes are saved automatically as you work.
