Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of Scriptorium, a desktop application for writing novels, articles, and other long-form content, published by LeModule SAS. By purchasing or using Scriptorium, you agree to these Terms.

1. License

When you purchase Scriptorium, you receive a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on multiple devices. You may not redistribute, resell, or modify the Software without our prior written consent.

2. Purchase and Payment

Scriptorium is available for a one-time payment of $60 USD. There are no subscriptions, recurring fees, hidden charges, or automatic renewals. Payment is processed at the time of purchase through our third-party payment processor. All prices are listed in US dollars and may be subject to applicable taxes depending on your jurisdiction.

3. Updates

Your purchase includes access to all future updates of the application at no additional cost. Updates are provided at our discretion and may include bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features. We reserve the right to release major new versions as separate products, but your access to the version you purchased (including its updates) will never be revoked.

4. Refund Policy

All sales are final. Due to the digital nature of the Software, no refunds are issued once the purchase is completed.

5. Your Content

Scriptorium is a local-first application. All documents, manuscripts, notes, and other content you create are stored on your device and belong entirely to you. We do not access, collect, store, or claim any rights over your content.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, code, and materials provided on the Website and in the Software are owned by LeModule SAS and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or distribute them without permission. Your purchase grants a license to use the Software; it does not transfer ownership of the Software itself. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works of the application.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Share, redistribute, or resell your license or the application
• Circumvent or disable any license verification mechanisms
• Use the application for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or services

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that it will be error-free or meet your specific requirements. No warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement is provided.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LeModule SAS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use of the Software or Website, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the application.

10. Termination

Your license remains in effect for as long as you comply with these Terms. We may terminate your license if you breach any provision of these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the application and delete all copies from your devices. Sections 6, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Lyon, France.

12. Hosting

The Website is hosted by Hostinger. Software binaries are hosted onGitHub.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, through in-app notification or email). Continued use of the application after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
